Our Father's Day Camping Weekend

For Father's Day Chet and I decided to try our hands at camping. We got up early on Saturday morning and made the trek to Idyllwild where we camped at a small little campground called Dark Canyon. The only running water was a small spicket to fill up buckets. The bathrooms consisted of a hole in the ground with a seat on it, with no lights and no where to was hands after. Quite primitive, more then the kids and I are used to. Chet and I were able to set up camp in a little over an hour, with no bickering I might add, and the kids were able to make a new friend, Madison from Oceanside, in that hour. We spent the day just hanging out, watching the kids play (sometimes in the fire but no worries we watched them), going for a walk, and just relaxing and enjoying each others company. All was well until it came to bedtime. I thought we had enough blankets but when I get cold I can not warm myself back up. I spent the night up shivering and plain miserable. By 2 am Chet and I had the two little ones in bed with us. The only one who got any sleep was Bekah. Chet got up at 5:30 am and went looking for more firewood and the Delilah and I got up at about 7:30. Bekah and Ephraim slept in and got up and went to play some more. CHet and I made breakfast and then cleanup camp and we headed back home. All in all it was a great weekend and we can't wait to get out to camp again!
